Winter is when ride-on batteries die silently. A fully charged SLA pack left in a freezing garage can lose 30% of capacity by spring, and a discharged one can be ruined permanently.
Battery First
Charge the battery to about 70-80%, disconnect it from the car, and store it indoors above 5°C. Every 4-6 weeks, top it up. Never store SLA packs fully discharged.
Body and Wheels
Clean the bodywork, dry it completely and cover the car with a breathable cloth. Inflate tires slightly and raise the car off the ground on blocks so wheels do not flat-spot. Lubricate wheel bearings before storage.
- Store battery indoors, 70-80% charge
- Top up every 4-6 weeks
- Raise wheels off the floor
Spring Wake-Up
Before the first ride of spring, fully charge the battery, check all connectors for corrosion and test brakes. A 10-minute inspection prevents most 'it won't start' complaints from customers.
