From Sketch to Sample in 60 Days: How a New Ride-On Model Is Designed

Buyers often ask how long a custom ride-on model takes. The honest answer is about 60 days from approved sketch to a driving sample — and the buyer is in the room for most of it.

Weeks 1–2: Concept and Sketch

It starts with the market brief: age range, price band, target country. Designers turn that into sketches. The buyer picks a direction — usually from three concepts — before anything is modelled.

Weeks 3–5: 3D and Engineering

The chosen sketch becomes a 3D model, then an engineering review: shell thickness, frame strength, battery placement, mould draft angles. This is where cost is really decided, and where a good factory flags problems while they are still cheap to fix.

Weeks 6–8: Prototype and Drive Test

A hand-built prototype is assembled and driven. Suspension feel, remote range, speed steps and stopping distance are measured, not guessed. The buyer reviews the sample, requests changes, and one revision round is usually included.

After the Sample

Tooling follows, then a pilot production run with full QC. Total time to first bulk shipment: typically four to five months — which is why buyers planning for next season start custom projects now.
